Upon reaching Africa, Xena uses a potion to knock Gabrielle out, and disguises herself as a slave named Sophia and Virgil as a slave trader. He auctioned off Xena and she is bought by three men who came to bid on behalf of Gurkhan, making it impossible to know who Gurkhan was. After being brought to Gurkhan's palace, Xena meets three other slave girls named Milda, Lana, and Yo, and befriends them. As Xena attempts to extract information about Sarah from them, Gurkhans first wife, Sonata, makes an appearance and roughs them up a bit. Later, Virgil appears again dressed as a slave trader with Gabrielle dressed as a slave. She dances for the three men who bid on Xena, (knowing one of them is Gurkhan.) Xena notices a dagger hidden in Gabrielle's robes and quickly disarms her. Xena is then thrown into a cell and tortured for a long time. When Gurkhan comes to question her, she tells him she fought Gabrielle so that no one could have Gurkhan before her. He was intrigued by that and renamed her Fatima. Weeks went by as Xena's extensive injuries healed and she began to win the trust of Gurkhan. He chose Xena to dance for him one night and won his heart as she did so. She asked for one request, that he deliver to her, Sarah's head on a plate. He agreed to it and Sonata protested, revealing that she was Sarah. When Xena was brought to Gurkhan's quarters, she requested that Gabrielle be brought in to join them. When Gabrielle arrived Xena put the pinch on Gurkhan and gave Gabirelle a dagger to kill him. When Gabrielle call's Xena's name the group becomes angry at her for taking the name of the warrior princess. After a quick Chakram-throwing demonstration, the group is convinced that she is Xena and proceed to tell her that is was prophesized that she would rise from the sand to aid them. After hearing that the enemy of both nomad groups is Rome, Xena is more than happy to help them. Xena plans to make peace between the two nomadic groups in hopes that they can come together to fight a common enemy. Xena eventually forges an alliance between Kahina and Tazere, the leader of the other nomadic group. Both Xena and Gabrielle disguise themselves and travel to the Roman camp to size up their enemy. On their way back, they are struck by a blinding sandstorm. Through the haze Gabrielle sees a man approaching Xena with what she thinks is a knife in his hand. She quickly kills the man only to discover it was Korah, Tazere's son, holding a scroll, not a knife. Gabrielle is oevrtaken by grief. Xena tells her to go to Kahina's empty camp as she herself goes to Tazere's to straighten things out. Xena tells the nomads that a Roman killed Tazere but when Gabrielle finds out about this she confesses. Gabrielle is then sentenced to be executed. As the execution is prepared the next day, Xena leads a roman army to distract the nomads as she frees Gabrielle. The nomads along with Xena take advantage of a sandstorm to hide in the dunes and surprise the Romans by attacking them from below their feet. Gabrielle saves Tazere's life in the battle and he decides not to execute her. Gabrielle appears to be permanently scarred by killing Korah. - Submitted by RiverStyxx

The Abyss
- While Xena and Gabrielle were on their way to rendezvous with Virgil and his friend Hosep, Gabrielle confesses to Xena that she is still plagued by her killing of Korah. Virgil and Hosep are captured by cannibals before they meet Xena and Hosep is killed. While imprisoned by the cannibals Virgil meets a man named Rubio who has been starving himself in hopes that the cannibals will eat the better fed prisoners first. Gabrielle and Xena find Virgil's ravaged camp site and go in search of him only to be confronted by a swarm of cannibals. Gabrielle is hesitant to attack and as a result receives a deep gash in her side by one of the cannibals, who then tosses her into the river. Xena dives in after her and the two take refuge in a small, damp cave that is located dangerously close to a waterfall. All their attempt to leave the river are thwarted by the mysterious warriors from the woods. Gabrielle begins to hallucinate about her daughter, Hope, but in a moment of clarity requests to be buried with Xena's family in Amphipolis. That night, Xena carries Gabrielle up a steep cliff and uses her as bait for the cannibals who quickly capture Gabrielle and take her back to their camp. She is thrown in the cell with Virgil who helps keep her warm. Xena then begins to construct a precarious dam above the waterfall held in place by a single vine. The next day as Gabrielle is being prepared to be eaten, Xena mounts a succesful rescue. She tells Rubio to lead th horses to safety, and Gabrielle and Virgil to cut the dam's vine when she leads the cannibals under the waterfall. Gabrielle then cuts the vine, crushing the army of cannibals just as Xena flips to safety. - Submitted by RiverStyxx

The Rheingold
- The episode began with a flashback to thirty-five years ago in Scandinavia. Xena is shown dressed in silver armor with a gold ring, and she is battling a monster called Grindl. She locks the moster in an abandoned mine shaft with a lock that looks like two ravens. Grindl stole the ring before Xena got away. Xena then jumped on her horse, which flew her away. Back in the present (so to speak), Xena and Gabrielle were eating at a tavern when a man named Beowulf approached them and handed Xena a rusted lock that looked like two ravens. Xena immediately realized that Grindl had escaped and talked with Beowulf. Later that night, after Gabrielle questioned her about her conversation with Beowulf, Xena said she didn't care to discuss the conversation. The next morning, Xena was gone and had left a note for Gabrielle saying that she would probably be dead soon and she wouldn't take Gabrielle to die with her again. Gabrielle followed Xena with haste. Her pursuit lead her to Scandinavia where she learned of the Valkyrie, who were Odin's warriors that rode flying horses. She learned that Xena was a very destructive Valkyrie about thirty-five years ago from a woman named Brunnhilda. She tells Gabrielle about Xena's life as a Valkyrie. Apparently, Xena usurped Odin's mistress, the leader of the Valkyrie, Grinhilda, in order to find the secret of the Rheingold. One who had forsaken love could harness the power of the Rheingold however, the gold could be very harmful for someone who had not. Xena feigned love for Odin in order to convince him that she had not forsaken love and he told her the gold's secret. Xena then took off for the Rhein River with Grinhilda in hot pursuit. Xena quickly overpowered Grinhilda and found the three Rhein Maidens in the Rhein River. She convinced one of the maidens to take her to the Rheingold and she stole it and forged it into a gold ring. After hearing the story, Gabrielle agreed to let Brunnhilda tag along on her quest. When Gabrielle mentions the raven lock, Brunnhilda realizes where Xena is going. Meanwhile, Xena and Beowulf are confronting Grindl and are quickly beaten. Gabrielle and Brunnhilda arrive to find a battered Beowulf and Xena's armor. She had been taken by Grindl. - Submitted by RiverStyxx

The Ring
- Along with Brunnhilda and Beowulf, Xena and Gabrielle are able to fight and kill Grindl who Xena believes to be Grinnhilda as it is revealed that after Xena forged the Rheingold ring, Grinhilda put it on. Since she had not foresaken love, she lost what she held most dear, her humanity and beauty. Later it is revealed that Grindl was Grinhilda's child, as she was pregnant when she was imprisoned by Xena. Odin and his new order of Valkrie attempt to take the ring from Xena. Odin reveals that he has foresaken love and wants the power of the ring for himself. Xena refuses to relinquish it. It is revealed that Brunnhilda was commissioned by Odin to kill Xena and take the ring and if that failed to kidnap Gabrielle to use as a bargaining chip. But, Gabrielle touched Brunnhilda's heart so once she'd stolen Gabrielle, she did not give her to Odin but rather kept her safe from him. Eventually when forced into a seemibgly hopeless situation, Xena put the ring on and used its power to defeat Odin and the Valkyrie, however she lost the thing that she values the most: her memories. The memories of what she and Gabrielle had done together and of nearly everything else. Brunnhilda devised a way to safeguard Gabrielle and the ring until Xena finds them. She turned herself into a wall of fire around Gabrielle, who fell into a sleep that could only be disturbed by her soulmate. Only when Xena awakens Gabrielle will she obtain her lost memory. - Submitted by RiverStyxx

The Return of the Valkyrie
- A year has passed since Xena lost her memory, and Gabrielle was sealed within Brunnhilda's eternal flame. It is discovered by Beowulf that Xena was told by a Norse king that she was the sole survivor of a shipwreck and that she was betrothed to him. Beowulf was able to liberate Xena, despite her protests, as she remembered nothing about him or anything else that occurred in the past. Beowulf manages to bring Xena to the site of the eternal flame despite the attempts of the Valkyrie to stop them. The Valkyrie ambush Xena and Beowulf, but are quickly dealt with just before Grinhilda appears, who has been guarding the flame. Grinhilda imapales Beowulf as Xena dives through the flame. She awakens Gabrielle with a kiss. Xena's memory is then restored. Xena takes the ring from Gabrielle and faces Grinhilda. Xena is able to reach into Grinhilda's soul and transform her back into the beautiful woman that she once was. Beowulf survives and the two warriors return Grinhilda to her home with Odin. Xena and Gabrielle then return the Rheingold to the Rhein maidens. - Submitted by RiverStyxx

Old Ares Had a Farm
- A price had been put on Ares head by the warlords he has crossed during his time as a God on Olympus. After Xena and Gabrielle learned of this they quickly tracked the former war-god down and offered to help him avoid harm. Ares assumed that they were going to join him in battle, but the two had another plan. They took Ares to Xena's childhood home; a run-down farmhouse. Xena explained that she and Gabrielle would help Ares fix the place up and he could live out his days as a farmer and no one would ever know he was the God of war. One day while working the trio received word from a gossipy neighbor named Greba that the warlord Gasgar's army was headed their way. Xena found Gasgar and claimed that Ares could have still been a God and that they needed her if her claim was found to be true. Back at the farmhouse, many objects had been disapearing. Through clever observation of the culprit's tracks, the group discovered that a dog had been pilfering their house. Ares adopts the dog as his own after taking a liking to it. While Ares was outside killing a chicken one day, Gasgar's army approached over the hills. Xena revealed that she lured them there on purpose as she put on her warrior garbs and headed out of sight. Ares quickly dressed as a simple farmer. Gabrielle was left to distract the army by prancing around half-naked while waiting for Ares. Ares appeared and put on his best performance in hopes of convincing the army that he was just a simple farmer. Xena arrived from the woods and acted as if she was interrogating Ares, who claimed that the God of war recently visited him but that he hadn't seen him since. The army was fooled and they left. Later in the day, Ares' dog's owner, a traveling salesman, arrived and claimed the dog. Later still Gasgar's army found the salesmen and saw the dog chewing on one of Ares' gaunlets. When Greba informed Xena that the army was heading back to the farm, Xena realized they must have discovered the truth. Gabrielle and Xena then staged a fight between themselves in front of the army in order to convince them that their partnership had dissolved. Gabrielle then convinced Gasgar that Ares has skipped town to board a ship to Anatolia. Later that day, Xena and Gabrielle arrived back on the farm with the dog who's owner had given it to them. They bid Ares farewell and Xena asked him to keep a low profile at the farm. She then said that if he did she might just show up to visit him sometime. - Submitted by RiverStyxx

Dangerous Prey
- The episode opens with Marga being chased through the woods by Prince Morloch. He takes down the Amazon queen and tells her he needs her to deliver a message to the Amazons. Back at the Amazon camp, Xena and Gabrielle have just arrived at Marga's request. Varia explains that many of their number including Marga have ventured off and not returned. Varia becomes angered with Xena's presence and storms off into the woods. Xena follows her and stumbles upon a beaten Marga. She tells Xena to protect Varia and gives her a necklace. Marga then dies. Xena notices a message carved on Marga by Morloch, challenging all willing Amazons. Xena and Varia run across some of Morloch's men and only one survives after the two are through. He rides back to Morloch and tells him of Xena. Morloch is intrigued with her and orders her to be brought in. Morloch attempts several times to capture Xena but fails. He then sets fire to the forest in hopes of herding Xena to a specific location. Xena decides to launch the wounded Varia through the trees on a makeshift catapult. Varia is intercepted by a net and is captured by Morloch. Xena goes to his camp and frees Varia. Morloch wants nothing more than to fight Xena, as she is a worthy adversary to him. Xena refuses to give him the pleasure and begins to leave when he lunges at her and she impales him with a wooden spike. Later, Marga is cremated and Xena gives Varia the necklace, making her the queen of the Amazons. - Submitted by RiverStyxx

The God You Know
- On a battlefield, Xena and Gabrielle see the results of the merciless warlord, and emperor of Rome, Caligula. Michael appears and informs them that he is immortal and Xena is the only one who can kill him. He also tells the duo that Eve has gone to Rome to confront Caligula. Upon arriving in Rome, The two meet up with Ares who tells them that they can't kill Caligula because his life is linked to Aphrodite's, and that she will die if he dies. When Ares gave up his power as being the God of War, Aphrodite became unbalanced. Xena infiltrates the palace under the guise of being Saba, the Celtic Goddess of sex. Michael tells Caligula that to achieve absolute power he must spill Eve's blood. Michael then sends Eve to meet Caligula. Xena is able to intervene before Eve is hurt but she refuses to kill Caligula. She then tries to kill Michael and Eli removes her power to kill Gods. A short time later, Caligula saps the last of Aphrodite's godliness from her, leaving her a mere mortal, and him a full-fledged God. Xena convinces Caligula to have a chariot race with her, the winner having the honor of killing Eve. Xena wins the race and reveals her true identity. Caligula's people lose their faith in him as he is defeated by the warrior princess. Xena manages to convince the hysterical Caligula to take his own life, so that he would be remembered forever. Xena can't help but feeling dirty after convincing an insane man to kill himself, but she accepts that she had to do it to save Eve. Xena, Gabrielle, Eve, Ares, and Aphrodite all walk from the palace together. - Submitted by RiverStyxx

You Are There
- This episode is from the point of view of a nosey investigative reporter who is looking to find a juicy story about Xena. The interviewer obnoxiously questions many of the folks that Xena has run across in her travels. They include Odin, Ares, Michael, Lucifer, Charon, Caligula, Eve, Grinnhilda, and eventually Aphrodite; all of which (with the exception of Aphrodite) seem to be acting strangely, as if they had no love in their hearts. The most "love-less" person appeared to be Eve who unleashed a dazzling array of profanity and punches upon the interviewer when he questioned her about Xena's relationship with Ares. Through his questions, the interviewer learns that Xena is attempting to storm Valhalla and steel the Golden Apples from Odin. One who eats a Golden Apple becomes a God. At first, the interviewer is lead to believe that Xena intends to make Ares a God and rule alongside him. He then comes to the conclusion that Xena is going to make Aphrodite a God so she can restore love to the world. Grinnhilda helps Xena enter Valhalla and steal the apples. Xena then uses them to make Ares and Aphrodite both Gods. She then returns the apples to Odin. Later at a tavern, the interviewer questions Xena and Gabrielle about the true nature of their relationship. Just when Xena is about to explain the camera runs out of power before she can. - Submitted by RiverStyxx

Path of Vengeance
Amazon tribes from all over the world are converging on the location of Varia's tribe to form one great Amazon nation. While this was happening, Eve was on a trek towards Varia's camp to bring her a message of peace. A group of Roman soldiers was sent to guard Eve, who was displeased with the military presence. The Amazons overwhelmed the Romans and even killed those who surrendered, at Varia's order. They took Eve captive and lead her back to the camp. Varia ordered the Siberian Amazons under the rule of Cyane to guard the entrance to their land. Upon hearing of the attack on the Romans, Xena and Gabrielle headed towards the Amazon land. Eve was on trial in front of the council of queens when the two arrived. Gabrielle was able to join the council as she was an Amazon queen. Xena discovered that Ares had been influencing Varia and encouraging her lust for vengeance. She decided to try and show the Amazons that Ares would lead them to their destruction, with little avail. Gabrielle, seeing no other course of action within Amazon law, challenged Varia for the right to be queen. Gabrielle lost the challenge and Eve's life was put in Xena's hands. Xena attacked Varia before Eve could be executed, and was able to show her the error in her ways. Varia then left the path of vengeance and set Eve free. Eve left Xena and Gabrielle and headed east. - Submitted by RiverStyxx

To Helicon and Back
At Varia's coronation, a group of masked warriors attack and kidnap the new queen. They kill many Amazons in the process. The Amazons and Xena discover that Varia was taken to a nearby fortress known as Helicon. Xena sets out to infiltrate the fortress and kill the leader of the masked men. The Amazons, lead by Gabrielle, board a ship and sail towards Helicon under the cover of darkness. Xena confronts the leader of the warriors, Bellerophon, who reveals that he is the half-god son of Artemis. He plans to kill all the Amazons because they deserted Artemis when she tried to kill Eve. Xena escapes from Helicon and rendevous with the Amazons, who were attacked with a catapult from Helicon. The Amazons have suffered heavy casualties. Bellerophon sets Varia free so she can die with her tribe. He also promises to not kill the Amazons if Varia kills Gabrielle. Xena discovers this and stops Varia. Gabrielle strips Varia of her position as queen and harshly reprimands her. Many Amazons, including the queens Gwyn-Teir and Mawu-ka are killed. Xena lures Bellerophon into a heavily wooded area, where the Amazons attack him and his troops. Most of the Amazons engage in hand to hand combat but Cyane stays in the trees and shoots arrows at Bellerophon's men, until she runs out. Xena kills Bellerophon. The sparse handful of tearful Amazons that are left alive join together and solemnly anoint their victory. - Submitted by RiverStyxx

Send In the Clones
The year was 2001, and three dedicated Xena fans, along with Doctor Alexis Los Alamos, had tracked down a strand of hair from Xena and Gabrielle. The quartet managed to successfully clone the ancient heroes. They attempted to jog the memories of the two in order to wake them up, by playing a series of clips from the television, very similar to some that are shown at the conventions. After Xena and Gabrielle had woken up, Alexis lured Gabrielle away from the group and had her arrested. She then sent Xena on a spree of destruction to save Gabrielle. At this point, the three fans realized that the doctor was not who she claimed, and she revealed herself to be the evil shamaness Alti. The sorceress tracked Xena and Gabrielle to a junkyard where she fought Xena, and was destroyed. However, in killing Alti Xena caused some fluid canisters to ignite and explode. She was able to save the fans, but she and Gabrielle appeared to perish. - Submitted by RiverStyxx

Last of the Centaurs
As Gabrielle walked with Xena through the marketplace of a town, she stopped to try on a cap and shall. While she was changing, the ghost of Ephiny appeared to her. Only Gabrielle could see Ephiny because the two were linked through their Right of Caste. Ephiny informed Gabrielle that King Belach has put a price on the head of her Centaur son, Xenan. Xena, Gabrielle, and the ghost of Ephiny went to Belach under the guise of being bounty hunters. They discovered that Belach was the son of Borias, Xena's former deceased lover. The three then tracked down Xenan, who had allegedly kidnapped Belach's daughter, Princess Nicha. When they found Xenan, they discovered that he and Nicha were in love and married, and that Nicha was pregnant with Xenan's son. The whole group began to travel until they found the remains of every Centaur from Xenan's village. This enraged Xenan. The warrior princess set out to talk to Belach only to discover that he was nothing like his noble father, and he only wanted to destroy and kill the Centaurs. However, she was able to eventually get through to him after his grandson was born. Belach accepted his daughter's husband. Xenan and Nicha named their child Borias. - Submitted by RiverStyxx

When Fates Collide
The mutilated soul of the long dead Roman Emperor, Julius Caesar, had chained the three Fates, Clotho, Lachesis and Atropos. With the Fates out of the way, Caesar proceeded to unravel a portion of the Fates foreboding loom. He re-wove the strand to recreate his fate. Reality altered as a new time stream developed. Caesar was, once again, the Emperor of Rome, but in this reality, Xena was his mighty Empress. The two were undergoing negotiations with Lao Maa, ruler of Chin. She sent two emissaries to Rome. The emissaries offered Caesar some documents and were killed shortly after by the High Priestess and chief advisor to Caesar, Alti. In this reality, Alti had a younger appearance and had not yet unearthed her true powers and true evil. Even her voice was more innocent. Later that evening, the palace turned out to see a play, written by the famous playwright, Gabrielle. After the performance, Xena went to Gabrielle to tell her how much the play had moved her. The two then became engrossed in a deep discussion about love. Even later still in the evening, Xena walked to the balcony that faced Gabrielle's. As she stared at the playwright, Alti approached Xena. She told the Empress that it was her intention to usurp her power and take her place as Caesar's Empress. The two began to attack one another and during the altercation, Alti used her power to make Xena relive her past, and live her future subconsciously. However, Xena recalled events from the actual reality before Caesar meddled with Fate. Alti was stopped by Caesar and taken to the dungeon. Alti implicated Gabrielle in her crime and she, too, was arrested. Xena was intrigued by the other reality so she ventured to Alti's cell, with the help of the prison guard, Joxer. There, Alti showed Xena the alternate reality, and Alti learned about her role in Xena's life, and of her true evil powers. Seconds later, Gabrielle was taken from her cell to be crucified. Xena managed to stop the execution by telling Caesar that she knew about the alternate reality, and she would destroy him if he didn't spare Gabrielle. Xena made certain the Gabrielle got a horse rode out of Rome, but Xena knew Caesar could not be trusted so she rode after Gabrielle, only to find Alti viciously attacking the playwright. Xena fought the Priestess but was ambushed by the Royal Roman Guard. The hardened Joxer managed to save Gabrielle. The playwright went to Xena in her cell and could hardly contain her emotions. Gabrielle left Xena and fled to the Temple of the fates while Xena was being crucified. Gabrielle took a torch from the wall of the temple and said that because of the Fates, her life was destroyed and her love was lost and she did not care about the fate of the world now. So, she threw the torch into the loom, causing a shockwave that was felt across the Universe. All was restored to normal as Xena and Gabrielle were reunited in the woods. - Submitted by RiverStyxx

Many Happy Returns
It was the eve of Gabrielle's birthday and the two were on their way to Thebes to deliver the Helmet of Hermes. On the way, Gabrielle made Xena promise not to play any practical jokes on her during her birthday. However, Xena crossed her fingers. The two ran across a religious cult preparing to sacrifice a young maiden named Genia. The two saved Genia, but she was not about to thank them. She'd been raised her whole life to be sacrificed and was dismayed by her liberation. While playing practical joke after practical joke on one another, and with the help of Aphrodite, Xena and Gabrielle attempted to show Genia that she shouldn't blindly follow some god. All the while, the warlord Ferragus attempted to steal the Helmet of Hermes from Xena. Eventually Xena thwarted Ferragus and instilled in Genia a sense of self worth. The episode closed with Gabrielle reading a poem by Sappho that Xena had given her and the two of them using the helmet to fly across the ocean. - Submitted by RiverStyxx

Soul Possession
In the modern times, a new Xena scroll was discovered. It was read at a C.H.A.K.R.A.M. (Center for the Historical Accuracy of Key Research in Ancient Mythology) conference. A conference that was attended by Annie, the reincarnation of Joxer. The scroll was said to reveal that Ares and Xena were married. As it was read, it revealed a sequence of events that occurred after Gabrielle and Hope plummeted into the lava pit in Sacrifice II. The scroll began after Xena had seen Alti's vision of Gabrielle's death alongside herself. She returned to Greece to find a drunken Joxer. As the two searched for Gabrielle, Ares intervened and said he would reunite Xena and Gabrielle if Xena married him in front of the Fates. (A marriage in front of the fates is eternal.) Xena eventually agreed, but she insisted that they be married by the lava pit. At the wedding, before their marriage was finalized, Xena jumped into the lava pit, but she was rescued by Ares. She then deduced that Ares had saved both Hope and Gabrielle. He agreed to give Gabrielle to Xena if she agreed to marry him. However he would let her live her current life with Gabrielle, without interfering. Xena agreed and the contract was made. However, Xena stole the contract and hid it with the lost scroll in the ocean, where it was found 2000 years later. After the scroll was read at the conference (which was now being attended by the newlywed Harry and Mattie, formerly Xena and Gabrielle) Ares arrived to claim Xena as his wife. A Friend in Need - Part 1
Xena and Gabrielle were talking about their future at their campsite when a young monk named Kenji approached them. He informed that Xena needed to go to Japan at the request of a ghost named Akemi. On their voyage to the East, Xena disclosed her past involving Akemi. According to Xena, she and Borias had kidnapped Akemi from an evil man, and she was grateful to them. Xena taught her the ways of a warrior, including the pinch. Xena and Akemi traveled through Japan to find Akemi's father, Yodoshi, but they stopped to pay respects to her grandfather, and to obtain a sacred kitana. When they reached Akemi's father, Akemi used the pinch to kill him because he was evil. She then asked Xena to kill her with the sacred blade and bring her ashes to Higuchi. Xena agreed to do so after Akemi mortally wounded herself. After Xena told Gabrielle of her past, the two disembarked from the boat and swam ashore to Higuchi, which was being attacked with fire balls. The two used a series of dazzling acrobatics to punch a hole into a water tower to douse the burning city. After they saved the city, the resident ghost killer told Xena that while she saved the city this time, she could never atone for killing 40,000 innocent inhabitants of it. Xena was unaware, but when she ventured to the city to return Akemi's ashes, she had started a fire that destroyed the village. She knew that she had to atone for her past. The next morning, Xena showed Gabrielle the pinch. Also, the ghost killer told Xena that he had the power to kill Yodoshi, who had become an evil spirit, but he could not get close enough to the demon, only another ghost could. Xena and Gabrielle prepared for war as armies led by the lord of the dark land, Yodoshi, gathered on the horizons. - Submitted by RiverStyxx

A Friend in Need - Part 2
Before the battle against Yodoshi's army commenced, Xena was shown burying her armor and her sword. She kept her chakram. Xena engineered a huge explosion that wiped out much of Yodoshi's troops, however, it did not destroy enough. The army shot a barrage of arrows at Xena, and her head was cut off by the general of the army, Morimoto. Xena's spirit then joined Akemi's spirit in the teahouse. Her spirit met with Gabrielle in the woods, and she explained that only a spirit could kill Yodoshi, so she allowed herself to be killed. Xena then allowed Harukata to kill Miyuki, and Xena stole her anklet. Kenji explained to Gabrielle that she could bring Xena back from the dead if she burned Xena's body, and sprinkled her ashes into the Fountain of Strength on Mount Fuji before the sun set for a second time after Xena died. Before Gabrielle left the teahouse, Akemi gave her two tattoos, a dragon on her back and left calf. Gabrielle then left, reclaimed Xena's body and set out for Mount Fuji. Back at the teahouse, the group made an attempt to kill Yodoshi. But, they were unsuccessful because Yodoshi was too strong. It was then discovered that Yodoshi's strength was due to the fact that he had been drinking from the Fountain of Strength. Xena knew that in order to kill Yodoshi, she would have to go to Mount Fuji. As Gabrielle reached the mountain top, she encountered Morimoto. She quickly knocked him out, but the urn containing Xena's ashes had fallen onto an outcropping on a cliff side. Just then, Yodoshi arrived to drink from the fountain. Gabrielle was able to give Xena some of the water, rejuvenating her. Xena then engaged Yodoshi in an epic battle through the tree tops, and eventually killed him by chopping off his head. Just before Gabrielle could pour Xena's ashes into the fountain, Xena's spirit stopped her. She told Gabrielle that she had freed the 40,000 souls, but they could not reach a state of peace unless they were avenged. This could only happened if Xena died, and stayed dead. So, after exchanging "I love you's" Xena and Gabrielle embraced as the sun set and Xena's soul disappeared. Gabrielle then returned to the boat that they came to Japan on, and sailed away with Xena's ashes, alone. - Submitted by RiverStyxx
