The Mask

An original poem by Heather Gallagher

I must run, I must hide.

I can not let the world see

how easily I can feel.

It is weak to cry.

It is weak to love.

It is weak to have feelings.

That is why I must keep this

mask forever.

I must not let people see how

weak I can be.

Feelings are for the people I

slaughter.

Feelings are for kids.

Feelings are for the weak.

Feelings are for people who love.

Feelings are for true friends.

Could Feelings be for me?

Could I be kind, gentle, and loving?

No. No. I must not remove the mask

or I will be forever Weak.

But, I can't stop thinking about my one

true friend. My joy. My strength. My heart.

My life. My friend.

Gabrielle.
