Calamity of Eros
By Melissa McMahan
With love arrows drawn
on a sun laden breeze
her heart was pieced
she flew into his arms
out of dreams to twine
Love sweeter than roses
dripping with fine wine
singing while he plays
captive of her touches
and whimsical gold hair
Joy as the boundless sea
thine to inhaled romance
built a nest in his soul
foolish perhaps this man
for her he'd shed blood
Day gave place to night
looming cloud of sorrow
scoring thoughts desires
his empty arms mournful
for her touch once more
As her bitter punishment
with a cruel soft hand
alas less dim than mirth
leaves his heart desolate
like a sword ran through
Darkness hovers over head
she hastened swiftly away
him not to call in vain
shan't to catch her eyes
her broken hearted inmate
Soon his sad pale face
alone this lonely night
in the empty awful moon
beats his crooning heart
radiance of undying love
